Art as Ukraine’s Voice to the World

The Ukrainian Witness media project, in collaboration with Ukrainian artist Oleksiy Say, created the installation «I’m Fine»,  which has become a symbol of the unbreakable spirit of the Ukrainian people. Thanks to the initiative of Vitaliy Deynega and the Ukrainian Witness team, the project not only documents the events of the war but also transforms them into art that speaks to the world in the language of emotion and truth.

This 32-meter metal structure, weighing 10 tons, was made from debris collected from areas affected by the Russia-Ukraine war. Every detail of the monumental work — from twisted road signs to fragments from destroyed buildings — tells its own story. The «I’m Fine» installation was first presented in 2024 at the iconic Burning Man festival in the USA.

«One American said that our installation contained so much grief and death that it was hard to bear, and he cried. Another said that it was full of strength, because if we were victims instead of warriors, we wouldn’t have brought it here», – Vitaliy Deynega
